Pequi
The project of the house “Pequi” derives from the desire to occupy a vast 50x50m flat plot of land in a cerrado region. The main challenge was to create permeability between the built space and the landscape in a harmonious relationship. The initial design was based on the interaction between the shape of the land and the built volume in contrast to the elements originating in the local nature, marked by the presence of pequizeiros, a native species of the cerrado characterized by its spreading crown, trunk and crooked branches with fissures and discontinuous ridges.

The dramatic site largely informed the design of this residence. Early explorations of a serpentine architecture threading through large, slumbering boulders and towering evergreen trees resulted in a design which cascades the site, negotiating the sectional character of the lot, leading to the water’s edge. Rather than altering the site by removing seemingly cumbersome boulders, the design worked with it – integrating its unique character and intricacies, creating moments for its residents and visitors.

Humanizing the high-rise at Waregem Waterfront
On a site near the Regenboogstadion in Waregem-Zuid (Belgium), project developers ION, Alheembouw and De Steenover, together with architects B2Ai joined forces to develop a visionary masterplan and unique architectural vision in which quality, livability, sustainability, and mobility are a priority within a concept that features high-rise living. Appearing to float among the trees at Boulevard des Forges in Mauricie, Canada, Résidence des Forges is an architecturally expressive abode. Our worldwide unique natural stone Silberquarzit is mined in South Tyrol / Italy at 1,500 m a.s.l. Silberquarzit is part of the former coastal strip of the ancient sea Tethys. Through the continental shift this tight quartzite band protrudes out vertically as a metamorphosed rock in the Pfitsch valley and can be mined there. The material is available in the colors light and dark, as well as with two surfaces of rough-cleaved (natural surface) and diamond sawn surface. It was also decided to extend the Emergency department of the existing hospital to respond to the additional needs for better emergency services.
