Structural Glazing for a Contemporary Country House in West Yorkshire Making Place House is a contemporary country house on the moorland fringes of Calderdale, West Yorkshire. Designed by Gagarin Studio under Paragraph 79 of the National Planning Policy Framework, now Paragraph 84, the project reinterprets the historic Halifax House as a modern zero-carbon dwelling rooted in the South Pennine landscape. The Arbor House is a contemporary family home located to the west of the Scottish city of Aberdeen. Built in a conservation area, it was designed by Aberdeenshire-based architectural studio Brown & Brown. The residence is primarily a timber frame construction, finished with a mix of larch cladding, fibre cement cladding, and retained stone walls from the existing site. This project was to be a house for a family with greatly different ideas about what constitutes a house. One parent dreaming of a strikingly modern aesthetic, the other of a traditional house with a sloping roof, and with respect for the rules of Feng Shui. ZEST architecture had to find a way to interpret both these views and create a house that would feel like a home for the entire family. Camhanaich is located in the agricultural area of Cushnie, in rural Aberdeenshire. The design brief was to design a home for our client to retire, and to enjoy independent living later in life. The Design was contextually driven from the building forms and material seen in this the area. The result is a single story house which embeds itself within the natural topography of the picturesque landscape by which it is surrounded. Camhanaich has been carefully designed in a staggered H-plan. This stunning new build was awarded a Commendation award 2019 by The aberdeen Society of Architects. This design was contextually driven from the surrounding building forms and materials. The Wooden House lies in an area called "Gellan", Banchory in the beautiful Royal Deeside, Scotland. The design incorporates elements reminiscent of older agricultural buildings common in the area. The dwelling comprises of natural cladding materials with both a rusty Cor-Ten and grey corrugated roof. An L-shaped plan provides generous accommodation and living spaces whilst keeping the buildings footprint to a minimum and allowing for a secluded area to be formed in the garden. We were approached by a client to design an eco-friendly home in a picturesque corner of Surrey. Located inside the Surrey Green Belt surrounded by trees and hills, the plot also boasts a nearby golf course which wraps itself around the site adding yet more stunning views far and beyond. Numa The main house has been positioned a significant distance from the road and is shielded by numerous trees, so will have minimal visual impact. This backland site was part of a generous 4 bedroomed property that benefits from a mature garden, including listed trees and well established, mature boundary hedging. The site for the new property was chosen by our client for its minimal impact on the existing property. The result is a narrow, east-west orientated building plot, partially encroached by tree root protection zones and existing planting which is to be retained. The building plot also forms a stop-end to an existing 1970s mews, which is a dominant yet incomplete development pattern.Early stage 3D modelling highlighted three key amenity areas with optimum light throughout the day and the seasons. The existing, tired and dated property had small rooms, a lack of living accommodation and poor connections to the garden. ArchitectureLIVE's design added an open plan kitchen and dining area and gallery study extension. The conversion of the existing dining room and kitchen into a new snug area provided further flexible living space. A new master bedroom suite extension replacing an existing flat roof completed the new accommodation.
