Lady Marmalade

Lady Marmalade has been a mainstay of the Toronto brunch scene since 2009. Their newly renovated space, designed by Omar Gandhi Architect in collaboration with SvN, is located on an up-and-coming stretch of Broadview Avenue just north of Dundas Street. The building exterior retains its original character, including the original brick front façade.   The new, large storefront window provides a glimpse into the bright interior for passersby and dedicated Lady Marmalade brunch patrons. The cedar cladding hints at what to expect inside, and will develop its own patina over time to complement the aging brick cladding. Rabbit Snare Gorge - Cabin

Lawrence MacIsaac recalls stories of his great grandfather using the property to teach his sons how to snare rabbits, while his great grandmother commonly used the ‘laundry stone’ at the bottom of a small waterfall to wash clothing. With the extremely steep sides of the gorge it was difficult to do anything with the land, including the harvesting of trees, so it was left to grow wild. Before there was a site, there was an idea of a cabin in nature. As the Northeastern seaboard urbanized, the client longed for an escape to a wilder land. Luminato Festival will #TurnOnTheHearn from June 10 to 26, transforming Toronto’s iconic decommissioned power plant, the Hearn Generating Station, into the world’s largest enclosed temporary community and cultural centre with 17 days of free and ticketed artistic programming. PARTISANS was approached by Luminato’s Artistic Director, Jorn Weisbrodt, to help achieve a singular and largely unparalleled vision: Convert one of the world’s largest decommissioned power stations into a performing arts venue.
