Komorebi Pavilion

Komorebi:  “Japanese word that describes sunlight filtering through the leaves of trees, creating a shimmering interplay of light and shadow that moves with the wind.” This pavilion is a project developed within the course Making Pavilions. Experimental Ephemeral Architectures with Parametric Design, part of the Master's and Diploma in Construction of Architectural Works (MDCOA), and the Digital Integration Center (CID), at the Faculty of Architecture, Design and Urbanism (FADU/UDELAR). Los Colihues Pavilion

The pavilion was born from the desire to rise on a wild and undeveloped piece of land, an artifact that would support the installation of photovoltaic panels to obtain energy for lighting and pumping water. More importantly, the structure establishes a place and provides shelter by giving shadow and light to a large table. Nogales Pavilion

Concept: This project is for a place to celebrate life with family. To build a space of leisure, a flexible one that can host grand family events but also informal gatherings. We had a big challenge: sort out these different stages on a single architectural plant. Two Spaces Two Moments

The pavilion 2 spaces 2 moments is the duality in which the outer space, the large scale space on everyone’s sight, captures the attention of pedestrians with a powerful yet small light threshold, inviting them to discover what is beyond, creating the first moment. The inner space is the second moment of the experience. Inside this small and quiet place made by a geometrical complex surface formed with more than 60 triangle pieces and 1,800 joints, 2 facing mirrors highlight the perspective inside the pavilion, while color and different kinds of lighting nurture this experience and create an endless loop of the inner space. The serenity of the pavilion contrast with the dynamics of geometry, perspective and fullness of color. More
