Tribeca Duplex Penthouse

This duplex apartment in Tribeca offers breathtaking views of the Hudson River and the downtown Manhattan skyline. Our design sought to preserve the original layout’s open, airy feel while providing privacy for a family of four with two young children. To make the most of the panoramic city views, the layout is carefully organized along the perimeter, with storage and secondary spaces integrated into the apartment's core. Change in Direction – Apartment Renovation

The apartment in its original state had bathrooms and a laundry utility closet facing its best views. As quickly as the first walk-through it was clear that pastoral green landscape and partial Mediterranean Sea views were visible from the closed windows and shuttered shingles of the bathroom. In order to bring the views straight into the apartment and take advantage of them, the entire apartment needed to be reconfigured and essentially flipped over. The dramatic reconfiguration required accounting for existing windows, support beams, and a lot of creativity around solving problems with pipes and water access with a minimal budget. The laundry area and bathroom became a beautiful dining room area. The bathtub became the new kitchen. A be... More

Dogan Media Center

As an absolute expression of communication, the philosophy of the building remains as it was, unaltered and everlasting. A lucent transparent cube made of glass arises linearly, hierarching iron volumes which sculpt the façade of the building, allowing the design lines to develop and coexist in three axes. As a unifying point of reference Braille code is adopted as the dominant façade pattern in order to bring about the message of "communication for all". Natural light and shadows create an embracing "dance" together as they pass through the circular metal pattern and the glass surfaces of the facade. The notion of communicati... More
