The new railway station was completed in 2023, and the railway line that previously divided the town now runs on a new alignment between Ebreichsdorf and the district of Unterwaltersdorf on an elevated route. In the context of the municipality's spatial and development planning, this location was chosen because the two communities are expected to gradually merge over the coming years, and future development opportunities and prospects regarding the connection of the urban areas and the integration of the new railway station were to be comprehensively considered from the outset. New Delhi Railway Station is a major transportation node with approximate average foot fall of 450,000 people daily. The Airport Express line and the Yellow line of the Delhi Metro also have a subterranean underground station at the Ajmeri Gate side in-between the railway station and the Parking building . On the surface there is the Bhav Bhuti Marg and the drop off Zone of the Railway station. THE URBAN DESIGN CONTEXTThe project originated from an urban design study conducted by MEYER+VORSTER (now Meyer & Associates Architects & Urban Designers) to highlight the importance of the new Kuyasa Station as part of a future urban node in Khayelitsha. The City of Cape Town commissioned the same set of consultants to design a new transport interchange at this station to facilitate intermodal transfers. SouthTown is a unique district nestled below the Niagara Escarpment near downtown Hamilton. It encompasses the prominent streets of James and John South and includes major attractions such as St. Joseph's Hospital, the Hunter Street GO Station, the Augusta entertainment area, and the historic James South Terraces. The new Dulles Corridor Metrorail Silver Line has significantly reduced the commute time between Washington, D.C. and Northern Virginia. In the first phase of the project, a direct route runs from Washington, D.C. to Tysons Corner, but will be eventually expanded to run all the way to Dulles International Airport. In addition to the new line, pedestrian bridges featuring more than 60,000-square-feet of Banker Wire woven wire mesh were also created and interspersed throughout the Dulles Corridor Metrorail Silver Line. The VlinderBrug or “Butterfly Bridge” is a pedestrian/cycle bridge which makes an elegant leap across the busy provincial highway. The shape refers to the butterfly emblem of Oost Gelre.
