The project task involves the reconstruction of the office space on the ground floor of a residential building, covering an area of 42 m², to accommodate the work and life of a multimedia artist. The main design parameter was to maximize the versatility of the space through budget-friendly solutions. The primary purpose of the space is to serve as a hybrid: primarily a photography studio, a living area for a certain period, and a venue for various gatherings. The School of Visuals Arts engaged Spacesmith to renovate their popular MFA Photography, Video, and Related Media program which occupies the 6,000 sf ground floor of a former warehouse building. The project was divided into two phases: the first addressing all classroom, studio, faculty, and common spaces; the second a new multi-purpose area connecting the façade to the interior. The Portughes brand is no stranger to the Maltese context, as it has a strong presence throughout the island as the leading laundry and dry cleaning company. ​ The proposal for this new self service outlet - a first of its kind for Malta - aims to give the Portughes brand a new, updated look and visual identity. The launderette is conceived as a singular, monolithic element, which is then carved out to accommodate the program. This project is part of a wider ongoing renovation process of an historical stone house, located in the old town of Koper. House V consists of three apartments that we have named V1, V2 and V3. With a living space of only 35m2, and just one window, V1 was the first to be completed. Due to its location on the ground floor and narrow shape, we divided the apartment into two parts according to the daylight and privacy required. The bedroom, bathroom and wardrobe are pushed to the back, while the kitchen, dining and living area adjoin the window. chrismforsyth.com Montreal's metro system is comprised of 68 stations transporting over one million passengers daily. Often overlooked however is the unique art and architecture of each stop. When the project was launched in the mid 60’s, under the direction of Montreal mayor Jean Drapeau, a competition was held among Canadian architects to decide the design of each station.
