To the north of the city walls of Pisa, along the river and towards the sea are the shipyards of the ancient maritime Republic where the fleet’s galleys were built and repaired: it was an extensive, well-structured complex made up of diverse buildings, that can still be identified today along the Lungarno di Tramontana. As part of the overall regeneration project to turn the entire area into a museum, the first to be restored was the building of the so-called Arsenali Repubblicani.
