Republican Arsenals - Pisa

Applied products
View all applied products

To the north of the city walls of Pisa, along the river and towards the sea are the shipyards of the ancient maritime Republic where the fleet’s galleys were built and repaired: it was an extensive, well-structured complex made up of diverse buildings, that can still be identified today along the Lungarno di Tramontana. As part of the overall regeneration project to turn the entire area into a museum, the first to be restored was the building of the so-called Arsenali Repubblicani. Built in the thirteenth century but transformed numerous times, it stands out with its impressive structure and façade with ogival arches. The majestic roofing and the space of the naves between the pilasters is completely visible thanks to the transparency of the uninterrupted, large windows: secure and light, the solid frame is made of profiles with the 4F 1 and SA 15 systems, defining the perimeter of the internal area, where finds are on display from different construction periods that were discovered during the archaeological excavation that restored the building’s original level.
