10 buildings that demonstrate the unique qualities of polycarbonate

There are seven different types of plastic with a variety of applications. The categories were first defined in 1988 under the Resin Identification Coding System. They are: polyethylene terephthalate (PET), high-density polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride (PVC), low-density polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene, and “other” — for plastics that do not fit the previous six categories, the best known of which is polycarbonate. A thermoplastic substance, polycarbonate is strong, durable, and has a high heat resistance. This material is particularly tough and virtually unbreakable despite its impressive lightweight quality. It should be noted that polycarbonate is derived from fossil fuels and its production requires a signifi... More

Offices in Polycarbonate Panel made by Kinya Policarbonato This project was an office building in Portugal. Once again Kinya was commissioned to build polycarbonate panels to the interior and exterior of the business in question. These offices in question are meant to have employees.  The polycarbonate solutions were the chosen ones because of their advantages. A natural source of light and UV protection were just some of the ones why Kinya Policarbonato was chosen for the project. Caption Caption More

Kinya Polycarbonate has the best solution for honeycomb polycarbonate coating systems. This compound is used in the manufacture of alveolar modular boards, giving rise to roof and wall panels that, in combination with existing metal structures, create self-sustaining solutions with enormous energy savings. The mechanical properties of Polycarbonate make this material resistant to shock, providing excellent protection against accidental damage and those caused by weather events. Proper development of lighting systems requires controlling the amount of light needed within an infrastructure. Therefore, the importance of using panels with an adequate light passage is obvious. Kokaistudios transform a disused steel production site into a mixed-use eco-industrial park

Shanghai-headquartered design and architecture firm Kokaistudios specialize in urban renewal projects that contribute positively to the built environment.  When contracted by Chinese steel company Baosteel to revitalize and adapt their disused steel production site into a mixed-use eco-industrial park, two key priorities were identified: to preserve the historical and structural legacy of the site whilst simultaneously modernizing and reimagining it toward an eco-positive future.  Credit: Terrence Zhang The key to this balance was to embed flexibility within every level of the design and building process, from programming flexibility into multiple and unexpected site conditions to selecting the most appropriate and eco-frien...
