At the end of the 19th century, architect Giacomo Boni excavated for the first time in centuries the Roman Forum sewer system, known as Cloaca Massima. The historical ABB halls in Oerlikon are significant architectural reminders of Zurich’s industrial past. Their proximity to the business and residential quarters of Neu-Oerlikon gives them greater importance. In accordance with a revision of the special building regulations, the building is now being preserved and for the most part placed under protection.  The halls are being renovated, reinforced and technically improved with great care and attention to the existing structure in anticipation of their use for public events and large gatherings. The listed Haus Zur Sommerau in Uetikon is situ­ated on a ridge in the immediate vicinity of school buildings, a community centre and the Uetikon Kirchenhügel. The property is defined by the large front garden with its bordered, circular “Brezelwegen”, garden beds, fences and historical garden gates and is a reminder of the prestigious buildings of the upper classes. The house was likely built in 1902 by Karl August Veit, architect of the Weissenrain schoolhouse, which lies in front of the building and with which it shares a strong resemblance – both are realised in the historical style. Ridman house was built between 1934-1935 as part of the second phase of "Craftsmen B" neighborhood. Located in Unesco's world heritage site "white city" buffer zone, Ridman's house was categorized for preservation in 2003. The building was originally designed by architect I. Burman for Ya'akov Ridman, in the International style. The building has a symmetrical façade to Shenkin street with balconies that integrate built balustrades and ironworking balustrades and windows which emphasize the horizontal line. . The Arie Bril house was built in different phases between the years of 1919-1923. The core of the building was designed by Engineer L. Feinstein and was one of the first houses in the historic "Craftsmen A" neighborhood.  The evolution of the building is entwined with the development of Shenkin St. in Tel Aviv. The building was categorised for restoration and is located in Unesco's white city buffer zone.The original two storey, roof-tiled building was designed in the Eclectic style. This $150 million dollar project has entailed the reconstruction of a 400,000 SF landmark building built shortly after the turn of the 20th Century, and in fact, the first building built for public higher education in the United States. The client has been the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York acting as agent for CUNY. Exterior work has included reconstructing the entire building shell including replacing 65,000 different pieces of ornamental terra cotta with new durable thin-shell GFRC. Interior work has included restoration of the Great Hall, interior stairs and a complete evaluation of fire safety systems, IT systems and mechanical systems.
