Peace is a rustic retreat located on a wooded and sloping terrain near the summit of Le Maelström Mountain in Lac-Beauport. Serving as both the starting and ending point for several hiking trails developed directly on the vast site, it is the ideal refuge for outdoor enthusiasts. Clearly delineating space for a single mother and her teenagers was a primary consideration for this relatively small home. Spaces had to be segregated without feeling choppy, while also maintaining an open, airy environment. Photolux Studio/Christian Lalonde Overlooking a beautiful river valley, the house was conceived as a simple masonry volume with the ground floor being dedicated exclusively to the teenagers with bedrooms, TV area and sports equipment storage. The second storey features all of the common living spaces, as well as the master bedroom and bathroom. Originally designed in 1940 as a convent for the Serving Sisters of Saint-Coeur-de-Marie, Le Divin has been converted to feature 280 contemporary condominiums in a historic building in 2022 (phase 1) and 2023 (phase 2). While this site no longer serves as a convent, it is still the administrative headquarters for the province of Saint Joseph and a retirement home for many sisters of the community. The Chalet Forestier by Atelier Barda is an easy-to-maintain secondary house located on the eastern face of Mount Pinnacle in Quebec's Eastern Townships. When the clients, city dwellers, decided to build their secondary residence near Montreal for weekends and holidays, they chose a woodland site on the eastern face of Mount Pinnacle in Quebec’s Eastern Townships. Their requirements were modest : they wanted an easy-to-maintain chalet, largely open to surrounding nature.
