Established in 1114, Klosterneuburg Abbey is today an important cultural site and tourist destination. Among other things, it is one of Austria’s oldest and most distinguished wineries. BWM Architekten fully refurbished the abbey restaurant in preparation for its reopening under a new operator. They opened up the 640m2space and gave it a cohesive, authentic look inspired by the abbey itself. The project is influenced by the strong historical connotation of the building located in the historic center of Padua. The superfluous volumes have been removed to let speak only the pure volumes of arches and vaults.   In this architectural envelope, a strong sign has been inserted to emphasize the perspectival directions dictated by the nature of the place. The Architect’s Studio, located in Ahmedabad, is designed as a place of work for a design firm. Located on the fourth floor in a relatively old residential building, the two penthouses were used as an architectural office and a residence. Due to multiple renovations over the years, the existing penthouses became a mess of jumbled walls, leading to poor ingress of natural light. This project is an architectural intervention done on a single-family house. At the request of the client, the existing house and the local architectural memory and identity should be preserved in order to avoid unnecessary construction waste. Therefore, we went on a search for coincident alignments that would allow us to unify the isolate buildings and transform them into a unit. We took over the central patio void, which we covered in large glass sheets supported by steel columns and beams forming a freestanding structure, independent from the existing fragile walls, and as an architectural hiatus, we invaded and dressed this void with the purpose of joining the buildings. Refurbishment of Commercial Building, Gurgaon India Project Architect : Horizon design Studio Project Value – INR 80 lakhs The 4 storey building required a major renovation. The services had totally collapsed because of water ingress which affected the structure of the building. The renovation aimed at changing plumbing, electrical services, recasting of second floor roof slab, relaying of staircase as well as reinforcing of structure.
