1.    It was once a small police station guarding a quiet neighborhood in Bangbae-dong. After being vacant for years, the building stood cold and lifeless, with an old protected tree quietly enduring beside it. When we first encountered the site, the tree became our starting point for imagination. What if this rugged concrete structure could coexist with the living presence of the tree?  The kitchen is always the heart of the home and originally the kitchen was inaccessible to the other living spaces. With this remodel, we made the kitchen the heart of the home again and connected the spaces proximity wise and you can see all the spaces in one spot –nice for hosting and just living there as a family. This project was a proposed remodelling of an existing house in London, with the addition of a small rear extension to accommodate the needs of the client. The house belongs to an author of romance novels that resides with her partner and cat. We decided to propose for the extension a quiet place with ample daylight for her to read and write. A shelf is designed for the wall above the desk that doubles as a perch for the cat. A skylight is placed on the roof to let daylight in from above.The living room is separated from the dining area with sliding crittal glass doors. The office is located in the heart of the financial district in Quito, the capital of Ecuador. The floor is divided in 2 areas, one for the faculty and workers, meeting rooms and conference rooms, and the other half for classrooms and student areas.In the center the reception area welcomes the visitors, with a lounge where staff, visitors and students can rest or wait for their next class. Since the ceilings were not that high, we decided to play with them in different ways. In most areas we took them completely away and painted them in black to make them “disappear”.
