EOLICA RESIDENCE Location: Pregassona, SwitzerlandBuilt-up area: 4,088 sq. mDate: 2014 – 2017 The urban insertion completes and defines the urban block in a clear way by following the alignments of the buildings north and south of Via Vedreggio. The district Project consists of 4 buildings: orthogonal volumes that are inserted out of alignment in order to create a dynamic green space that on the plan resembles wind turbines. The buildings too are characterized by the centripetal “wind rotation” of the apartments around the central vertical circulation, thus opening the views from the living rooms towards perspectives that are characterized and amplified by the curvature of the living room terraces. Residential Building Canonica

The first choice appointment is to carry out subtle interventions instead of a complete demolition and reconstruction: interventions are considered to be more convincing and more successful because they can incorporate a sense of "aging" (that we identify as a peculiar value in architecture), through the stratification of the introduced changes. The second choice is to amend the proportions of the inner court by raising the level of the open-pit floor in order to create parking spaces in the current basement, and to generate a distribution system based on a single staircase in order to achieve financial and spatial economy, given the narrow spaces available. Last, the choices of the materials came before those of the composition. Both the l... More

Gheisizadeh Residential Apartment

Text description provided by the architects. In Gheisizadeh residential apartment project, our main effort was to provide the maximum possible outdoor space to the residents, while creating the maximum visual privacy from outside to inside. The initial idea was to create a flexible and variable building façade. The intention was to reach the desired result by changing the openings, "While giving the residents the right to choose their level of privacy".The effort was to, while respecting the introversion aspect of the residential units, consider implementing a terrace to protect the disturbing severe direct sunlight in summer and benefit from the sunlight in the cold weather of winter because of the warm and dry climate of Shiraz. As a resu... More

Vance Harold Park

Vance (Precinct 5) is the final building on the Harold Park masterplan site. The exterior of the building was conceived by PTW Architects as a solid form, ‘carved’ to create strongly defined openings for windows and balconies in the spirit of the punched fenestrations of the adjacent industrial buildings- intern strengthening the connection and outlook to open park spaces to the building’s north. The use of brick is also a historical reference to the heritage tram sheds and railway viaducts nearby and brings a point of difference to the surrounding precincts. While acknowledging the heritage materiality of the site, the brickwork boasts subtle and sophisticated contemporary detailing, which strengthens the monolithic carved form of the buil... More
