In Oosterhout, we designed an apartment block with 52 apartments on a semi-submerged underground parking garage. This block is part of four large residential buildings along the Wilhelmina Canal in the Slotjes Midden reconstruction district. The various buildings along the canal each have their own plastic expression, but they share a common thread like a family resemblance. For years, the residential area of ‘Wyckerpoort’ was wedged between the highway and the railway. With the tunneling of the highway and the new development of a wide, leafy urban boulevard upon the tunnel called 'De Groene Loper', the neighborhood was given a new position and had to be connected to the new buildings at various points. BWM, commissioned by Rhomberg Bau, is redesigning the former radio building, which is a listed landmark. Sites A and B will be opened to the public, transforming into a vibrant, creative hub under the concept of a “stacked Grätzl” or neighbourhood, while site E will house residential spaces. The New Fort residential complex project is part of a strategy to revitalize a former industrial area in Lviv. The project site is located in one of the former production sites of the Soviet Almazinstrument plant. The existing industrial buildings are squeezed into the middle of a neighborhood that was underdeveloped earlier. At that time, a street was laid across the site, and production halls were built instead in the Soviet period. The story of the street gave inspiration for the creation of two new neighborhoods that would form comfortable spaces for different age groups of the neighborhood’s residents.
