Baba Cool

Brooklyn café Baba Cool’s second location required a fluid program to accommodate transitions between coffee in the morning, and bar and restaurant in the evening. The plan is structured as a sequence of spaces that increase in intimacy from front to back. A lounge at the entry leads to bar seating and a central dining nook, with a more enclosed formal dining area in the rear. Seating designs orient around necessary upgrades to ADA accessibility standards throughout. Materially, custom millwork reinforces a sense of continuity, from new exterior windows and doors to the substantial curved banquettes shaping the seating areas. TANPOPO

Tanpopo is the Japanese word for the dandelion plant and the title of a cult Japanese film from 1985 that follows the story of a young mother who takes lessons from a truck driver on how to make the perfect ramen. It is also a Japanese restaurant located behind Klafthmonos Square, where food is served in a casual atmosphere and a canteen-like setting that directly engages with the sidewalk. Margarita Yoko Nikitaki Margarita Yoko Nikitaki Margarita Yoko Nikitaki Margarita Yoko Nikitaki The design intention of Trail Practice was to blur the boundaries between public and private, bringing the action (of cooking) into continuous interaction with passersby. Spatially, this translated to positioning the food preparation area... More

Celona

Located at the bustling mall of Select Citywalk, New Delhi, Celona sits at its second floor enjoying the golden light in the evening. Celona is a pizzeria and bar designed by Poulomi and Jatin of Design Ethics Studio. The duo was tasked by a hospitality group to envisage a design that seamlessly blends comfort and crafted aesthetics. The design team decided to develop a concept around a simple thought on how laid-back emotions and perceptions could be brought about from the room, promoting positive internal and external interactions, thereby enabling diverse social behaviours in the small area. Ekansh Goel Ekansh Goel Upon entering Celona, the guests are greeted by a bold façade done in off-white and black stripes strategi... More

Nhà Tú Garden

Inspired by the convergence of urban and industrial landscapes, “Nhà Tú Garden” stands as an oasis of green amidst its surroundings. Conceived by visionary architects, this project aimed to seamless integrate contrasting elements and establish a vibrant green focal point in the area. Hiroyuki Oki Hiroyuki Oki Hiroyuki Oki Hiroyuki Oki The core concept driving the restaurant was the creation of a "small garden" within a larger one. Through the ingenious carving out of a central hollow within a substantial box-like structure, architects fashioned an outdoor tropical sanctuary, blending human habitation with water features and verdant foliage. Ristorante - Pizzeria - Cocktail bar ROMA

The project of the new cocktail bar and pizzeria in Rome is a building renovation, energy requalification and expansion intervention, in addition to the definition and planning of interior design. Jacopo Salvi Jacopo Salvi Jacopo Salvi Jacopo Salvi Jacopo Salvi Jacopo Salvi Jacopo Salvi The design of the pizzeria is characterized by the warm colors of the wood, the orange velvet of the seats, in contrast with the marble of the workbench, the black of the steel and other technical elements, trying to maintain a pleasant contrast and balance of the materials. Vernetti

Located in Larchmont Village in Los Angeles, Vernetti is a neighbourhood restaurant where old school meets new school Italian.  Inspired by a century-long history of Italian-American cuisine, Assembledge+ collaborated with the restaurant owners to remodel and expanded the space into a cleaner, more modern aesthetic.  An open wall separates the bar and restaurant yet allows for visual connectivity. Interior materials and fixtures are sourced from various artisans and fabricators to evoke a modernized European bistro aesthetic. Tables and bar top are made locally out of reclaimed wood; hardware and light fixtures are brass; an expansive, starphire glass storefront and hanging interior mirrors allow patrons to better enjoy... Savor

Savor is first and foremost a place to educate students in the culinary arts. Operated by the Culinary Institute of America (CIA), Savor functions as a full-service teaching restaurant where students learn and hone their skills while working with professional chefs, restaurateurs, and teachers. Savor is located within the Pearl, a former historic brewery in San Antonio, Texas that has been re-conceived as a mixed-use development with retail, dining, public green spaces, and Savor, the Texas campus of CIA. Savor reaffirms Pearl’s earliest commitment to cultivate the culinary landscape of San Antonio.   Savor reactivates a dark corner of a previously reimagined warehouse, isolated between parking lots and service alleys far remov... Mano a Mano

The restaurant is located close to Cais do Sodré Station, in a recently recovered Pombaline building with three fronts: one on Rua do Alecrim, which will contained the main entrance, another on Rua do Ferragial, and a third on Rua de S. Paulo, one level up from that street. The project briefing was very clear: an Italian restaurant with a pizzeria, an open kitchen with full views of the ovens and an informal atmosphere, to be located in a recently recovered Pombaline building. The space was handed over in the rough. It has plenty of daylight because of its three fronts and its long narrow configuration, wrapped around the building’s stairwell. Our approach to the project began by defining a layout that would comply simultaneous... More

Restaurante El Gordo y el Flaco

Trusting in our studio, Salva and Pablo commissioned us with the project for the relocation of their restaurant. For this purpose, an old corner house with no architectural value is chosen, located in a low-rise building area. This new location makes it possible to house the new restaurant in its own building, which allows all the advantages that its old premises did not have. The project covers the demolition of the old building and the construction of a new one. Whenever there is a change of business, there is a need to improve the existing, so the main starting point of the project was to solve all the problems that the old location had without affecting the main features of the restaurant. For this we thought, given that this new locati... More

Larder

Tucked away in the old brewery department, Larder is a hidden gem at Pearl. The 2,000 square foot retail locale features freshly prepared food and artisanal products from local and global vendors. New architectural elements work harmoniously with historic building features in this carefully curated gourmet market. Hotel guests aren’t the only ones to take advantage Larder’s treasures; for those in the know, it is a foodie-approved local favorite. More

Southerleigh

The Southerleigh Brewhouse celebrates the architecture and soul of the 1890s vintage building. Together with Joel Mozersky Design, we worked together to bring the gritty magnificence of the Brewhouse back to life, as if it had never shut down. Clayton Korte retained vestiges of the deep history at Pearl through the re-purposing of historic equipment into decorative and functional pieces. These icons of the past have been scattered throughout the 5,000 square foot restaurant and 2,600 square foot Brewery. Fifteen foot original stainless steel kettle tops were re-purposed to provide a focal point to one of the three dining rooms. Honoring the past, the copper clad mash tun and boil kettle sit in the same location and are a focal point as pat... More

The Bottling Dept. Food Hall

Originally constructed in 1894, a devastating fire claimed the historic Pearl Bottling House in 2003. Pearl salvaged as much from the rubble as possible, and hired Clayton Korte to rebuild the 13,132-square foot-structure as a modern interpretation of a lost Classical Revival jewel that would serve as a venue for emerging chefs and culinary talent.   Located at the heart of the historic Pearl campus, the Bottling Department sits along the San Antonio River and is the city’s first food hall that houses local chefs. An anchor in the Pearl campus, the building is surrounded on all sides by a mixture of residential apartments and condos, offices, retail shops, restaurants, and Hotel Emma.   The mixed-use campus fosters rich... Eberly

Eberly, inspired by sources both humble and lofty, marries a former 1970s print shop building with a salvaged bar from the storied Cedar Tavern in New York’s Greenwich Village to create a sophisticated bar, cafe and restaurant in central Austin. Following the owner’s purchase of the legendary bar, hand-carved mahogany sections were carefully transported and restored with the goal to again surround the bar top with a creative atmosphere worthy of the original. Working within the raw concrete and glass context of the print shop, the design team divided the building into three distinct environments: a “restored” Cedar Tavern, a mod Café, and a book-filled Study.   Located just south of the Colorado River,...
