A look at the UK’s best affordable housing project of 2021
RIBA recognizes McGrath Road by Peter Barber Architects as the UK’s best housing project of 2021 by awarding it the Neave Brown Award for Housing. This is the second time RIBA awards the Neave Brown, after granting it to Goldsmith Street by Mikhail Riches Architects in collaboration with Cathy Hawley in 2019.

RIBA crowns Kingston University Town House by Grafton Architects as UK’s best new building with 2021 Stirling Prize
After Foster + Partners’ Bloomberg in 2018 and Mikhail Riches’ Goldsmith Street in collaboration with Cathy Hawley in 2019, Grafton Architects’ Kingston University Town House wins the 25th RIBA Stirling Prize.

RIBA announces 54 winners of the 2021 National Award
The award started in 1966 and has since recognized the UK’s best new buildings. The Royal Institute of British Architects provides an insight into the prevailing theme’s from this year’s award winning projects.
The Institute notices sensitive restorations and adaptations like a 45-year-old furniture factory in Bath re-energised for art students and a major reconfiguration to transform the user experience of the MK Gallery. Investment in arts and culture is prevalent in the Aberdeen Art Gallery’s major redevelopment and a new facility for the English National Ballet. RIBA reveals longlist for RIBA International Awards for Excellence 2021
The Grand Jury chaired by French architect Odile Decq together with Jeanne Gang (Founder of Studio Gang), Rossana Hu (Founding Partner of Neri&Hu), Gustavo Utrabo (Winner of the 2018 RIBA International Prize and Emerging Architect Prize) and Es Devlin (acclaimed artist and stage designer) selected 16 international projects.
The prize was previously won by Grafton Architects’ UTEC - Universidad de Ingeniería y Technología Lima and Brazilian architects, Aleph Zero and Rosenbaum’s Children in 2018.

Victoria Park Redesign
Rees Architects designed and project managed the refurbishment of this duplex flat in Victoria Park, East London - making it fit to rent in this popular and competitive area. Rees were also responsible for all of the interior design, kitchen and bathroom design, bespoke joinery design, and the selection of all furnishings, fixtures and fitting.
We got straight to work removing a section of the wall between the kitchen and the living room to create an open plan space full of light. Then to give the kitchen a further sense of openness, we installed a glazed door allowing a window into the hallway.
