Maya & Olmeca Residence Halls
The twin sister buildings, Maya and Olmeca Residence Halls at San Diego State University, are two of many legacy ‘red-brick’ 3-story buildings that were built throughout the CSU system. HED’s design team was challenged to restore and refresh the student spaces while maintaining much of the fundamental architecture, emphasizing the unique original features of the building.
Creating openness and flow through the buildings with lots of collaborative areas designed for studying, playing, eating, and hanging out became the main goal of the project.

Fish & Richardson
Fish and Richardson is a leading global intellectual property law firm practicing in the areas of patent law, IP strategy and litigation, and commercial litigation with 16 offices worldwide. They recently decided to move their South California office to One Paseo in 2020. One Paseo is a high-end, luxury village with a collection of modern apartments, retail stores, and office space located in San Diego. Fish & Richardson has signed a 10-year lease to occupy offices on the entire top fourth floor and one-half of the third floor (a total of 32,300 sq. ft./ 3000 sq. m.) in one of One Paseo’s new mid-rise, state of the art office buildings. The Cresta
Architect Jonathan Segal and his son Matthew Segal built the Cresta to capitalize on Southern California’s balmy climate.As far as cities with ideal climates go, San Diego ranks at the top of the list. The seaside metropolis enjoys moderate temperatures and sunshine year round, conditions that are primed for the indoor-outdoor lifestyle.When local architect Jonathan Segal set out to build his dream home for himself and his wife, Wendy, in the beachfront community of La Jolla, he took advantage of the temperate conditions to construct a residence that completely opens up to the natural setting. Casa 8 project
Heralded architect Heather Johnston generated quite the interest when she debuted her Casa 8 project. Utilizing a 90-degree bi-parting Multi-Slide Door, Johnston created a stunning view for the homeowners while also providing indoor-outdoor living even on the second floor. Featured in San Diego Home/Garden Lifestyles, the magazine describes the project as "a piece of poetry," thanks to its use of natural light and ocean views on the north and south sides of the property. San Diego Sanctuary
