This apartment on Rua do Crasto is located in Porto, on the raised ground floor of a three-storey residential building.

The entrance to the apartment featured a screen wall of glass blocks, curving around a granite-clad pillar, and a second glance revealed the living and dining rooms separated by a corridor from the entrance to the bedrooms and lavatories. The living room had a granite-covered fireplace and extended into a small office, both facing the garden.

The Water Tower
The tower was in need of refurbishment and restoration, having been converted into a residential property many years ago it was now a little unloved and tired. There were two aspects of the brief, there was the consolidation of weatherproofing to the building, as it had suffered from rain ingress and dampness. The second part of the brief was to convert the space into a cosy retreat, for the clients to relax and unwind in.
The six-month restoration stripped away doors, partitions, and thick, almost medieval window frames that had been added over the years to emphasize the building’s historic brickwork. After many success OPENBOX design interventions for large scale projects, B Grimm Power send us a brief to help creating an awareness of the importance of sustainable energy to the public. The brief was to create an iconic piece of landmark at their Headquarters Office, that can send a strong message.
OPENBOX design team studied the headquarters layout and proposed to create two multi-function objects at the office parking areas, at the most visible location from the main road. We will create a parking roof, complete with solar panels in the form of a stunning sculpture.

A sculptural lighting fixture showcases handblown glass elements suspended on nine individual stainless steel cable strands. Nine illuminated glass diffusers are interspersed with non-illuminated orbs. Glass pieces are customizable as to quantity, size, shape, pattern and color: three shapes, five patterns, sixteen solid colors, three colorways. Metal canopy is available as square, circle or rectangle, in choice of six finishes.
Inspiration: The sculpture is an abstraction of gathering clouds before a storm, inspired by 19th century seascapes by Constable and Turner. In the iteration shown, she conjures gradating sky colors from deep teal, sunset, and grey to seafoam and mist. More

Mounted on stakes radiating from a central orb, the dimensional roundels dramatically diffuse light, sending it outward like a lighthouse beam, and casting evocative, textured shadows. The fixtures are illuminated by candelabra sockets. Roundel sizes, pattern and color are offered in a profusion of options:
Pattern:Choice of three textural patterns, created during the blowing process. “Wrap”: concentric waves, based on Fresnel lenses used for lighthouses. “Twist”: a nautilus/hurricane motif. “Primavera”: a bubbled surface.
