ELECTRIC BLUE 1.42

Bright, expressive, bold - this is how you can describe the #electricblue42 project The owners of this apartment also stand out among the majority of customers for their courage in making decisions. First of all, I was inspired by their attitude to rich colors in the apartment. At the very first meeting, I formed an association of this young couple with clean, bright blue. Imagine my surprise when they themselves brought examples of "blue" modern interiors as references for their residence! Mariia Sokhatska Mariia Sokhatska Secondly, clients were open to complete redevelopment. The location of the apartment on the 2nd floor allowed us to make drastic changes. We combined miniature rooms into an open space and changed the locatio... More

Tile Apartment

Located near Praça da Espanha, a bohemian spot in Curitiba / PR, the Apartment Ladrilho was designed to be the first home of a young couple.  Eduardo Macarios Eduardo Macarios The main challenge of the project was to find the best layout for the apartment's social spaces, ensuring enough storage space for the couple, without compromising the aesthetics or practicality of everyday life. Therefore, the main intervention of the project was the removal of the existing walls delimiting the kitchen and laundry room for a new layout arrangement.  Eduardo Macarios Eduardo Macarios The new design aims to maximize storage spaces, but still maintains the division between kitchen and living room, since the couple likes... v131 apartment.

Apartment v131 is located on the top floor of a residential building in Ivan Vazov district at the entrance of South Park in Sofia, Bulgaria. In its original layout, the apartment had 42 sq.m. of living space and 14.4 sq.m. of terraces. Space distribution was quite outdated, so we had to make radical decisions and completely overhaul everything. Sandro Arabyan To cater to the lifestyle of the new residents, we reconfigured the function of every room. Given the limited space at our disposal, we seized the opportunity to fully integrate one terrace and partially integrate the other.  With the newly redesigned layout, we were able to expand the living space to almost 51 sq. meters, while still reserving a lovely 5 sq.m. terrace wi... SP Family

Considering the growing and educational environment for the kid, the owner couple bought this two-bedroom project located right in the city center.   Being very particular about aesthetics and home design, the couple hopes this space a warm and well-designed residence. Thus, for the overall color scheme, we choose relaxing green, warm gray and wooden elements as layout, and then use different materials to create and build a sense of delicacy.   The designer uses a grid-style ceiling to decorate the porch, building a strong three-dimensional layer. Mosaic hexagonal bricks on the ground create a simple and casual neat style. And, the large mirror aside plays a functional role, visually broadening this narrow porch.   As t... More

[FRC] Porta Fabbrica House

Behind the dome of San Pietro in Rome is located a minimal and quiet apartment of a young professional. Yara Bonanni A colorful volume articulates and disengages the space of the house: it divides the living area - all open - from the more intimate and closable sleeping area. Yara Bonanni A small guest bathroom and the walk-in closet of the master bedroom take place within this block. Yara Bonanni On this simple and essential space, characterized only by the green color of the volume and the essence of the large-plank parquet, the central parallelepiped becomes protagonist of the house. [SCR] Pied-à-terre Parioli

In the heart of “Parioli” district of Rome, a young lawyer - in love with arts and modern antiques - chose a small "pied-à-terre" with a terrace for his days in Rome. Yara Bonanni At the entrance, a full-height wall system becomes both a wardrobe and a storage unit for a small kitchen with invisible doors that reveal or hide the kitchen. A mirror wall expands the space and hides the bathroom. Yara Bonanni Everything revolves around sand and green colors: an intense and courageous green that penetrates into the house through the terrace and creates visual and chromatic continuity between inside and outside. Yara Bonanni To amplify this feeling - and the space - a wallpaper with the image of a garden with... More

[MGL] Madonna dei Monti House

This is a small house, with masculine and rigorous traits, in which the main inside wall is treated like a diaphragm, covered with an oxidized iron sheet. Yara Bonanni Yara Bonanni Yara Bonanni The big gray lacquered joinery blocks of the hidden kitchen and the full-height wall system dominate the space. Yara Bonanni Yara Bonanni This "severe" mood inspired us to animate the house during the shooting through the meddling of fantastic creatures: shiny fish, mammoths, vegetables and boots. Creating a dreamlike atmosphere, made up of contrasts between shadow and light. Yara Bonanni Yara Bonanni Caption More

Duplex in Brozzi

The project concerns the interior spaces of a house inside the district of Brozzi, which is an historical suburb just outside the city of Florence. Still today, this territory presents the typical urban structure of the past, as a cluster of houses located along one road, parallel to the Arno river. The fabrics are dated to the 19th century, when Brozzi developed as a flourishing district, hosting many commercial and artisanal activities. In this context, the studio DEFERRARI+MODESTI by Javier Deferrari and Lavinia Modesti undertook the design and construction development of a house for a young florentine couple. The projects involves the use of diverse volumes that operates as specific devices and reorganize the various spaces fo... More

SMOLENSKIJ 10

The owners of this apartment live outside the city. The idea was to have a room for their child in their Moscow apartment. For that, we repurposed the two-meter wide walk-in closet. That is why our goal was to make it feel as spacious as possible. The former walk-in closet triples as a bedroom, study, and home gymnasium. We placed the desk and head of the bed next to the window whose sill doubles as a sort of bedside cabinet. As for the free space between the bed and closet, we arranged a home gymnasium with a couple of floor cushions there. For all the storage needs the owners might have, we put a built-in closet split with accent lighting in the room. The bed has pullout drawers, and to the right from the desk there is a storage system... More

BELYIE NOCHI 38

We designed this well-lit and spacious apartment for a young woman using natural materials.  Our goal was to create a minimalistic and modern-looking interior design that wouldn’t be loud and flashy; elegancy and practicality permeate the entire project. We didn’t choose the layout; the developer did. Yet, their decision to place an internal load-bearing wall at the center of the apartment turned out to be a welcome one; we created a ring layout around it. The bedroom leads to the kitchen, which leads to the bathroom and entrance hall – and vice versa. The customer asked us to wall off a portion of the bedsit to create a proper bedroom; we placed a semi-blind wall and a wood slat room divider that lets the natural l... More

Nguyen Khai Architects & Associates propose a minimalist design solution for the renovation of a tiny urban house

In the centre of Hue City (Vietnam), Tiam is a small, 18-year house renovated by Nguyen Khai Architects & Associates. With a gross build floor area of only 35 sqm, the main design challenge was to provide a more spacious and efficient living space for a three-generational family of seven members. The renovated home has a total of three floors, one attic, one balcony and a terrace. On the first floor, there is a café, which is run by the owner. Credit: Quang Dam The architects explain the most effective solution for working with such a limited built area is to design the interior to be as minimal as possible and create continuous, open spaces. For example, an old and ineffective spiral staircase has been replaced by a straig... More
