Our collaboration with the European Cultural Center began in 2017 with a site visit to Palazzo Mora, where we were immediately drawn to room #215. The space, which could be described as a corridor with no clear destination, sparked our interest. We began by focusing on the individual experience, aiming to guide visitors through the narrow, elongated room in a way that offered intimacy and escape from the collective atmosphere of both Palazzo Mora and the city of Venice. On the edge of Dongen, the expansion and renovation of a funeral home was recently completed. What was once a modest farewell house has now been transformed into a light, serene, and welcoming environment, while respectfully preserving its understated character. This transformation reflects a deep understanding of the emotional importance of such a place, where people come to say goodbye and find comfort. Dignified replacement The existing health center on Conservatoriumlaan is making way for a new health center, offering more space and a more modern appearance that complements the adjacent buildings. The main hall of the Sports Center of the West Railway Branch is a multi-functional stadium mainly for ball games and other cultural and recreational activities. The roof of the stadium structural design is a prestressed steel space frame structure composed of a rectangular bottom spherical shell and a thickened cylindrical shell with an outer overhang of 1-6m. the plane coverage size is 42.70m × 59.70m. The material of the main members is Q 235B steel pipe, the joint configuration is a mixture of bolt balls and hollow welded balls, and the 14 supports use rubber backing plates to reduce vibration and release temperature stress. It can be compared to an archive – layers of time. The building has served as an ammunition factory, paint factory and presently a kunsthalle for contemporary art and architecture.The kunsthalle lies in an area with dense, obsolete industrial buildings, more or less derelict.
