Design Office

Located on North Lamar Boulevard just north of downtown Austin, Clayton Korte’s office embodies the firm’s commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration and to fostering discourse in the design community. Officially named Design Office, the mid-century office space is home to two design practices, Clayton Korte and Word + Carr Design Group, a landscape architecture firm.   The 1963, steel-framed, brick-infill building needed a lot of work, but Clayton Korte recognized the untapped potential of its raw spaces. The 10,000-square-foot, two-story structure is set into the hillside abutting one of Austin’s principle thoroughfares. A severe slope and unstable soils meant the first order of business was stabilizing the stru... More

Loft 8B

Loft 8B resides comfortably in the 497 GW Building, where we translated the architectural design of the cascading glass facade to the interior, with a folded bogwood spine that spatially organizes the apartment— separating and connecting, displaying and privatizing. The bogwood’s lit axis branches to the music room, guest bathroom, master bedroom, and bathroom. The interior also includes a blue-glass master bathroom, which contains an overflow bath and steam shower, and art storage areas, which are either within the bogwood spine or in rooms concealed behind pivoting walls. The loft also includes a 7ft long steel fireplace set in a mantel of local stone.   Material Used : 1. Stone: Stone Source 2. Glass: Carvart Glass 3. Kitchen: Boffi... More

Steeler

When designer Jan Nijland showed us his striking design for a bent steel tube chair, we thought for certain that we’d find something similar somewhere in our collection of classic design catalogs. But after hours and hours of searching, we were convinced – with the Steeler Jan has reinvented the classic tube chair with a design that creates the illusion that the seat is floating in space. In his design, Jan has devoted as much attention to the space between the elements as the elements themselves, to surprising and delightful effect.  Inspired by Jan’s ingenious chair design, we asked him to supplement it with an ottoman and a 157 centimeter wide sofa to create the full Steeler series. All three items are equally suitable for private l... More

Baron

Baron was created by SchoeneHeileWelt Designstudio (Christian Ohlendorf and Robin Hapelt). In developing the chair, their aim was to come up with a light, robust, eco-friendly but still attractive lounge furniture piece. They succeeded: the outcome, Baron, is a lounge armchair made of steel, polypropylene and – air! In addition to the properties above, Baron is also easy to care for, can be stacked compactly, is simple to transport and can be configured for a range of personalized designs. Baron was awarded with a German Design Award Special Mention 2016. More

IPG Mediabrands

IPG Mediabrands, a group of global dynamic marketing agencies, needed a modern work environment in Amsterdam that would stimulate creation, innovation and cooperation. For this, Tétris Netherlands designed an industrial style environment where grey and brown tones stand out.One of the locations where employees can retire to rest is the one that includes the Kriskadecor chains as a space divider. On this occasion Tétris used the Earth pattern, which adds glamor and texture to the room. The fun black and uneven frame emphasizes the space created in the curtains, that serves as an access door, and combines perfectly with the idea of innovation that prevails in the business group.Design by Tétris Netherlands.Photos by Niels Kramer. Box St.

Located in the Vila Mariana, neighborhood of São Paulo, the Box St. project is based on the desire of customers to carry out a food trade with containers that allow a new interaction with external space and even a public use of space. With reduced budget and short term, the program and the implantation were a great challenge, as several difficulties were presented for HAA! Studio. Seeking to minimize resources and materials, prefabricated solutions were employed, reconciling the production of the office with the idea that was presented to us. In a land of 4m x 40m, located in the neighborhood of Vila Mariana in São Paulo, there was the desire of the clients to carry out a food trade made with containers that would allow a greater interac... Balancing Barn

The MVRDV project is built on a beautiful site by a small lake in the English countryside near Thorington in Suffolk. From the road, the barn is almost invisible; the front being only 7 metres wide, with a pitched roof, faces the long straight driveway approach, suggesting a small house with a traditional shape. The volume, however, has a length of 30 metres. At the midpoint it starts to cantilever over the descending slope; a balancing act made possible by the rigid structure of the building; resulting in 50% of the barn being in free space, and giving a wide view over the Suffolk landscape, adjacent lake and surrounding gardens. The long sides of the structure are well hidden by trees allowing privacy inside and around the barn. The exter... More
