Vital Supermarket Offices

The project for Supermayorista Vital, an Argentine company and a leader in the sale and distribution of mass-consumption products, began with the need to reorganize its work environment and enhance its spatial impact. The main objective was to modernize the 5,000 m² of the existing building—composed of four levels and a basement—in order to adapt it to new work dynamics and update its image. To support them in this process, Vital engaged Contract Workplaces, which initiated the task with a series of workshops led by its Workplace Management team. The purpose was to define the values and dynamics that would be present in the new workspace. Andrés Negroni From the beginning, the symbolic importance of the buildi... More

Thanopoulos Supermarket

The main idea was to change the notion of the supermarket as it exists today in Greece -indifferent big boxes with long alleys of products. For us, the supermarket had to be resolved as an interpretation of an urban market place where you go to different shops to find different goods and interfere with other people. Mariana Bisti Mariana Bisti Mariana Bisti Mariana Bisti Following the refurbishment, the super market extends to 1500m2 and was limited to two floors occupying a larger area than it did before on three floors. The storage areas, which in the past occupied the majority of the space of the basement, were moved to the 1st and 2nd floors, setting the basement space free for use for the supermarket. Communication... More

Oase Liezen

In this 120-meter-long and energy-optimized building in Liezen, transparency and translucence are in the foreground. The goal was to make a sustainable contribution to the urban development of this location, which was hit by many markets. A wide canopy creates a forecourt, an “oasis”. A public space on the edge of the city centre, a place of communication and encounter, as markets have always been. Inside, the oasis also offers rooms to linger. Above “lightwells” arise in the development area and at the turning points of the walkways. Thomas Jantscher Thomas Jantscher Thomas Jantscher Thomas Jantscher Thomas Jantscher More

Market & School

It was on this very spot and at this juncture that a shift in paradigms took place: away from the conventional manner of construction in a commercial zone reaching out to future urbanization. Between 2002 and 2009, all the typical designs were rejected. For the very first time, Vienna was demanding that wastelands of parking lots lining the streets in commercial zones had to go. City planners resolved to trailblaze a path to the future at this important west-east connection. Franz Ebner Lorenzateliers was given the opportunity to solve an ensnared situation: minimum fixation of building-complex height, a garage beneath the marketplace, an open-spaced square to round out the heartbeat of Atzgersdorf. Architecture firm MG2 in Seattle, known for its exceptional retail and hospitality design, played a key role in the design of the new locations. The program zeroes in on a change in the way we shop for groceries: Customers are increasingly focused on sustainability and community, in addition to ethics and nutrition. The design weaves sustainability into every fiber of the location, aiming for a higher certification (LEED, LBC) than what has been ever achieved by a grocery store before, while emphasizing ownership and community connection. The design aims to elevate and unify both the employee and shopper experience into an environment that f... More

HF Supermarket

This project started from a very specific context due to the specificity of the place and the particularity of the client. The intervention site is conditioned by its uneven topography, its location not only adjacent to municipal and national roads, but also to a power transformation station, and by the positioning of a medium voltage pole and cabling that cross the lot. All this implies proper regulation and makes the design process more complex.Together with these constraints of the place, the predetermined constructive solutions and the programmatic content provided by the client and specific to this building typology, are the main subject that supports the idea of the proposed architectural project. The idea is to capture all these const...
