Toitoi: Hawke's Bay Opera House
DPA Architects were engaged to undertake seismic strengthening and restoration of the Hawke’s Bay Opera House opened in 1915 and one of the few remaining theatres to have been designed by renowned architect Henry Eli White. The façade is one of the country’s earliest examples of Spanish Mission style, while the lavish interiors, with their elaborate plaster decoration and coloured leadlight windows, are considered to be an important example of Art Nouveau. Formerly dark spaces were transformed by a lighter palette and in the auditorium, rich red tones were remployed in carpet, seating and feature walls to create an atmosphere of depth and luxury associated with traditional theatre design.

Cultural Centre in Bourg-la-Reine
The Cultural Centre in Bourg-la-Reine lies on a narrow plot right next to a high embankment upon which a regional trainline runs. This plot is L-shaped and leads out onto a small road hidden away. To build a public centre, such a plot seemed far from ideal.
So building an edifice on this plot called for a design with which the structure could stand out as a public building and find a legitimate place between the vegetation-covered embankment and the neighbouring homes.

Technopolis auditorium
Design and construction supervision by architect Ioulietta Zindrou
The design of the Auditorium is based on the conception of the space as a complex, though elegant “acoustic device”.
We crafted the space into a dynamic field through design innovations, technological applications and material processes in construction and management, towards an optimal passive acoustic space performance
Through advanced design, sound calculus and construction technology, algorithmic and material processes, a ceaseless dynamism between sculpturing and engineering emerged.
