House Swanepoel
Inspiration came from the historical typology of the Cape rural agricultural vernacular which was synonymous with the surrounding area. Limewashed fisherman’s dwellings and agricultural structures for livestock were the norm prior to the area becoming a popular respite from the city life of Cape Town 90km (55 mi) away and a village where many residents have retired to this idyllic coastline.

The home is formed by the simple juncture of two pitched volumes. Inhabitable fingers which form a sheltered L-shaped courtyard extend into the site. Ardross House
Mike Edwards Architecture were commissioned for a full architectural service for this project. This two storey, 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom home has generous sized rooms including a large upper floor retreat and terrace with views to Perth city skyline to the north.
The north facing yard includes a retained existing swimming pool, lawn area and landscaping. A large modern open plan kitchen, living, dining area opens on to a covered patio.
The double volume entry stair hall features a steel and timber stair with a two storey stone clad wall and frameless glass details. More

Pembroke House
A private beach house in Portsea by Vibe Design Group, designed to take in all of its surrounds – from passing ships in the distant bay views, to its immediate rural setting. The glass ends to the pool draw your eye to set the tone from the initial drive up. Behind a concrete fin, the ultimate pool deck that conjures a scene from a Slim Aarons photo shoot. Playing into the pool house style was the design for the guest retreat. The space sits at its own level while maintaining direct access from the lower storey. A recreational deck wraps the glazed walls which view back through the pool in one direction and across the tree tops in the other. Complete with veneer robe and a walk around ensuite, it’s the ideal retreat for guests. More
