Bergen Bybanen Light Rail
The Bergen Light Rail is the first public transport system in Norway to utilise inclusive design at all levels, making the city accessible for everyone.
Bergen, on the west coast of Norway, is the country’s second largest city. The Bybanen Light Rail project constitutes the major component of the city’s 20 year investment programme to develop its public transport infrastructure and create a more sustainable network.
The scheme comprises a 7.2km extension to the existing railway line connecting Lagunen to Bergen Airport. A complex interchange, maintenance workshops and two multi-storey car parks provide the interface facilities along the route to achieve a fully integrated transport network.
