The project transforms a small eighteenth-century storehouse into a modern dwelling, blending restoration with contemporary design. The original three main facades are preserved while leveraging necessary repairs to introduce a new north-facing wall for indirect sunlight and modern amenities. This listed, former primary school was given a new purpose with living and working spaces. In collaboration with Rutger Kuipers, a design was created for this transformation. The transformation of Smedetoften 10 is part of a bigger city renovation project in the Nordvest area of Copenhagen. The building was constructed in 1977 for the original purpose of retail and a supermarket.
