Trees in containers

In the context of climate change, trees are becoming an increasingly important means to combat the urban heat island effect. However, urban environments present challenges: the soil is often unsuitable for planting, root systems have limited space to grow due to the presence of cables and pipes, and trees occupy valuable space needed for terraces, markets, and fairs. Or due to unconventional spaces for greenery, like rooftops.    Ebben Tree Nursery offers an innovative solution by planting trees in containers. These containers can be filled with a special substrate and equipped with nutrient and water supplies, either automated or manual, allowing trees to thrive in urban settings. Additionally, trees in containers can be easily... More

Multi stem trees

Multi-stem trees create a natural effect, and through their shape they bring atmosphere to a park, garden, square or street. They are primarily used for their unique character.   The depth created and the open structure of the multiple stems, often three to five, give your project a playful character. The impact of a multi-stem tree is greatest at eye level. Not only the bark but also the branches and foliage make the biggest impression at this height. Singly or in a small group, multi-stem trees create a unique experience. The planting of large sizes gives a mature appearance immediately. Caption At Ebben we select multi-stem trees at the nursery specifically for certain properties, including good autumn colour, striking sprin... More

Be the change

By creating an incubator for social entrepreneurs that also brings together associations, neighborhood businesses and all residents of Malmö, we are creating a new place for meeting and innovation. It is in this type of place that solutions are also born to respond to the societal issues that we must face today. “Be the change” is also a place where change happens thanks to and through people. The basis of the project consists of four clusters and an incubator for social entrepreneurs. Each cluster has its own premises and therefore an identity of its own, thus giving life to the forecourt of the district. Bloomimages Opposite the station, we have imagined a passageway where travelers and residents can stop, stroll,... More

Sou Fujimoto nestles House of Music inside Budapest City Park

The 9,000 m2 House of Music is nestled amongst the trees inside Budapest’s City Park. Sou Fujimoto wanted to design the museum as a continuation of the park. Liget Budapest - Palkó György A large undulating canopy, made out of 1,000 honeycomb-shaped elements, aims to blur the boundaries between museum and park. The canopy is covered with 30,000 decorative tree leaves and punctured with 100 crater-like holes. Some are punctured by trees and others allow for natural light to flood the interiors. Liget Budapest - Palkó György “We were enchanted by the multitude of trees in the City Park and inspired by the space created by them. Whilst the thick and rich canopy covers and protects its surroundi... More

Forest Finns Museum

NOMO studio’s proposal for the Forest Finns Museum draws inspiration from Forest Finn culture itself while highlights and strengthens its unique, material based craftsmanship and architecture.Due to the building’s divided volumes and functions, the sloping ceilings and the wood as the main material, the new museum bear resemblances to the traditional houses and also could be perceived as a small village. Beyond the shared architectural similarities, the building refers to the birch bark craftwork of the Forest Finns as its volumes interweaving into each other.By the weaving design several courtyards have been created where trees – one of the most relevant resources of the Forest Finns – are highlighted. The patios are planted with these tre... More

House T - living in the treetops

The building owners, both gardener and florist by trade, came to us with the idea of a lighty tree house – this means living among treetops, so that you do not have to look at the plants, trees and flowers just from below. After we have been dealing with such floating concepts with natural materials for some time the idea of a house above the ground arised, so that you are able to look over the site.In the middle of Gumpoldskirchen, a small but finely made floating place to live was built surrounded by beautiful old trees. It went without saying to taken wood as basic building material because of the natural environment. The entrance to the living area is situated in the first floor accessible through a staircase made out of panels of solid ti...
