Borgo Banditaccia

Set along the ridge of a Maremma hillside, between two valleys and in visual dialogue with the distant fortress of Magliano in Tuscany, Borgo Banditaccia is restored as a unified organism. A rural settlement that shaped the agricultural landscape for over a century, later reduced to a fragmented presence, now re-emerges through a project that weaves together architecture, landscape, and the human dimension of living. Andrea Ceriani The intervention is not conceived as a simple renovation, but as a process of reconciliation between rural memory and a contemporary way of inhabiting. The project takes as its generative core the only authentic remnants of the original complex—the vaulted cart tracks and the compact northern volume&m... More

Bertarelli Concert Hall

The Forum Fondazione Bertarelli originates from a thorough study of the settlement models in the inland of the Maremma plains. This 300-seat concert hall has an organic shape, perfectly self-contained and within the golden ratio, whose proportions were designed for non-mechanical acoustic amplification. From a distance as well as from close range, the Forum is not perceived as a building. Being free of openings, its rugged concrete surface with the earth tones of cement is reminiscent of a mound and fortified by wavy oxidised iron plate, which it partially envelops. Going uphill through an olive grove along the iron wall supporting the volume of the hall, we enter the foyer, one dematerialized space flooded by light where the outside landsc... More

Cupano Winery

The project for the extension of Cupano winery (Special Mention at the In/Architettura Award 2023 | Tuscany - New Construction) mainly considers the high environmental value of the place where it is located; thus, the main foundations of the intervention are the economic and environmental sustainability, implemented by sustainable construction techniques.  Andrea Ceriani Andrea Ceriani Here, contemporary architecture does not give an interpretation of the past but, using new technologies, it silently lies on and in the territory, gathering, selecting and transforming its resources. The goal is not to blend into the landscape profiles but to be part of it. Andrea Ceriani Andrea Ceriani The building was designed to... More

Trasimeno House

The house is located on the slope of a hill facing south and overlooking Lake Trasimeno. With an elongated shape, it has two lateral appendages: to the west the volume turns towards the ground creating a basement floor surmounted by a terrace, to the east it rises in a small tower. Caption All the facades are clad in rough gray stone crossed by horizontal brick strips, in dialogue to the facade of a church located in the hamlet adjacent to the site. The external stairways are in basalt stone and brick. The lighting of the steps is placed inside the custom designed iron balustrades. The entrance to the house is created in a niche on the north-facing wall in correspondence with the garage and driveway. The wall on which the entrance do... More

casa nell'orto

“Once upon a time there was a beautiful orchard where we lived happy and carefree; suddenly two humans arrived and soon after a house. They browsed very boldly in our green surrounding, eating our delicious yellow flowers and fruits, we thougth that they were destroying the environment and also all our food, endangering all the animals.  But they were also planting vegetables and bringing in the fields a lot laugh. One day, in the dusk, while all the others rabbits were asleep, we decided to get a ride in the new orchard to have a look at the house  we saw everyday from our burrows........” MEDULLA Studio MEDULLA Studio Once upon a time there were three sentient and very curious black rabbits, this is their... Podere Bedano

The property, an antique Tuscan farm whose original nucleus dates back to 1712, lies near Casale Marittimo, a small town of the Alta Maremma, located 10 km inland from the sea. The challenge was to introduce and involve minimal and contemporary architectural elements in an environment rich in nature and tradition. The solution adopted to achieve this objective has been to maintain as much as possible the vernacular architecture of Maremma using local technologies and materials for the external envelope, juxtaposing minimal design and clean interiors. The help of local workers during the construction phase has been crucial for plugging the building in the landscape and environment context and to respect local architectural traditions. Act... More

KME Hall

KME group’s new hall in Florence is a representative environment, suitable for welcoming visitors and customers in a space which is both functional and comfortable for business meetings. The initial regular volume was deconstructed to expand the perception of space and amplify its expressive and practical capacity. A skilful play of volumes and light contrasts the orthogonality of the environment: elliptical volumes described by numerous vertical elements in polished copper intersect at different heights. The curvilinear shapes, the rhythmic repetition of the vertical elements, the different heights, all combine to expand the perception of space, making it multiform, in constant evolution, enveloping and creating an intimate, yet ope...
