Circulating Garden — Center of Circular Economy

The Circulating Garden extends the activities of the Center of Circular Economy beyond the building and into its surrounding site. Conceived as both a public garden and an experimental landscape, the project provides spaces for leisure while testing nature-based solutions (NBS) for climate adaptation. Emilio Doiztua Vegetation, water, and shaded areas work together to create a cooler local microclimate and support biodiversity. Several lightweight, demountable structures form open-air rooms for gathering and activities. Conditioned through shade, planting, and water rather than enclosed mechanical systems, these spaces can also function as summer climate refuges during periods of high temperatures. A device for the reactivation of the unused part of the city. Urban agriculture is a practice that always coexisted within the city and its historical development. In recent times, this practice revamped as a form of engagement of urban communities in local food production. The Harvesting Station is an urban device designed to activate the interstitial spaces of the city and turn them productive. It can grow up to 200 plants in four square meters by keeping them protected from animals and air pollution. The greenhouse is conceived in a wood framewor... More
