The intrinsic essence of the small village of Eshaqabad, home to 300 people, is being “on the edge”. The Community Site is located in one of the most remote parts of Iran (near the border of Pakistan), Eshaqabad has both geographically and contextually the farthest distance from the central parts of the country, and, as a result, this rural community suffers from shortages of basic social infrastructure. In the heritage-protected core of the municipality of Wald ZH, between the village centre, the railway station and the parish church, a building was constructed, the Rosenthal Health Centre, which unites the facilities of the Drei Tannen Foundation under one roof and anchors them in the village. With a view to careful redensification, we are building the Qulumbus residential and commercial building in the center of the Vorarlberg municipality of Klaus. The project consists of two different structures, connected by an underground garage. Albrecht I. Traditional villages in the Southern Moravia region of the Czech Republic are characterized by their distinctive urban planning. The streets are lined with L-shaped row houses neighbouring each other on narrow rectangular plots, each with its own long and narrow backyard. A single multi-generational family home typically consists of three parts: the street-facing house inhabited by parents with their children, a home for the grandparents bordering on a courtyard, and the remaining lot to the rear of the property which was traditionally used for small-scale farming. John James Village, operated by the Leukaemia Foundation, provides respite accommodation free of charge for patients from regional areas who are undergoing treatment in Canberra for blood borne diseases, such as leukaemia. The village is designed to be a ‘home away from home’ for the patients and their families whilst they are in Canberra. The Leukaemia Foundation outgrew their previous facility, which was a single dwelling house shared by multiple patients.
