A swinging multi-purpose furniture made from plastic waste
Rotterdam-based design studio The New Raw has designed and manufactured a sinuous 18-meter-long piece of furniture for the entrance zone of an office building in Utrecht, the Netherlands. The sculptural and multifunctional element is inspired by geological layers and 3D printed with approximately 880 kilograms of plastic waste.

The New Raw designed and manufactured the Stratum furniture on behalf of PicNic, the online supermarket wanted such an object in the entrance hall of its new office in Utrecht. The furniture swings, bends and takes on different heights and widths; it forms, for example, a planter, a counter, a bench, a small desk and a standing table.

Domestic Solid Waste Management Centre
The first integrated solid waste facility in the Middle East began operation near Mesaieed, Qatar, in October 2011. The facility treats and processes domestic solid waste for the whole of Qatar - recycling select materials and using organic waste to generate various forms of energy. More than 95% of the waste is reclaimed or converted into energy, with less than 5% of the materials entering the facility diverted to a landfill.
The Domestic Solid Waste Management Center (DSWMC) supports four separate processes: (1) waste sorting and recycling; (2) composting; (3) waste-to-energy incineration; and (4) the disposal of nonrenewable materials in a landfill. Recycling center with an uplifting environment
The household waste lit de parade, my colleague Rolf kindly said.
This recycling center is located at one of the city's main entrances, also a very sensitive spot for waste management.
The driving force behind the recycling center at Kullö was to push the boundaries of what a recycling center can be and symbolize.
Waste can be seen as a resource, instead of garbage.
The facility form follows the site and nature.
