Baoshan Waste-to-Energy Center
In Shanghai, a new power plant fuelled by household waste is playing a key role in the city’s carbon reduction strategy. Designed by Ballistic Architecture Machine (BAM), the Baoshan Waste-to-Energy Center integrates advanced waste-to-energy technology and anaerobic digestion within a landscape designed to enhance environmental sustainability. Built on the site of a former blast furnace, the center’s design provides a significant step towards a circular economy. It is estimated the facility will save three million tonnes of carbon emissions annually.
