In Aspen’s historic West End neighborhood, a classic 1890s Victorian-Era home is carefully restored to its original form after years of non-historic additions and renovations.  The Victorian is stabilized and reinforced, renovated, and linked to a contemporary addition and newly excavated lower-level basement. Located between Kogelberg Biosphere Mountain Range and the Atlantic Ocean, House Lowe sits elegantly in its surrounding landscape. It is this location and the site’s climatic conditions which ultimately shape and inform the building’s design. This is illustrated through a series of frames, which continuously connects the user to magnificent ocean and mountain views around the site .   Damien Schumann In view of the characteristics of the site, the owner did not want a house with a conventional front and back but a design that permitted a 360-degree enjoyment of both the mountain and ocean views. On a small cliff-front section overlooking the town basin and Hundertwasser Art Centre, HMOA has designed a new three-storey, three-bedroom house with a pool and plenty of space for entertaining. Caption Board-formed, in-situ concrete walls and stair core balance the extensive use of timber. Caption In keeping with the Northland climate, the top level is predominantly for indoor and outdoor living. There’s also an open-plan kitchen, dining and living area and a separate TV lounge. A lift provides access from the entry. Rowland+Broughton Architecture transformed an existing inadequate wine tasting room that had limited functionality, as well as minimal storage and temperature controls. Our design team successful corrected those limitation and created a new space which has a calm elegance and sophisticated refinement. Uniform grids of white oak bins are recessed into the wall and framed in blackened steel. The center piece is a substantial display table made of honed black slate with waterfall edge countertop and additional built-in storage. The CS Residence is four-bedroom house with three car garage and a bike workshop in the garage. The clients’, avid bikers and software owners, had purchase a site from when they were married and sat on it for many years, thinking of what they could build. Pollard Architects were chosen for a prominent list of architects, because of our level of design and unique approach to their site and program. The residence resides at the base of Mt.
