SKOLNICK was retained to completely renovate this apartment, located inthe historic El Dorado building overlooking Central Park and the JacquelineKennedy Onassis Reservoir. Beyond the initial experience of beautiful ArtDeco details in the building’s lobby, the apartment itself required extensivework. SKOLNICK designed the layout to be much more open and lesscompartimentalized with the goal of letting in more natural light andmaximizing the park views and prominent waterfront setting.

“So what moved me? Everything.”
At the beginning of this year, a group of photos featuring a red brick building and a white spiral staircase went viral on the social media. Then, another post showed that the space with the logo of GIORIO CASA was located in “Shenghui Furniture Mall”, which attracted some young people to travel a long way for a visit.
The owner of Qumei Wanwu commissioned Wang Zhongli, the lead designer of CATANIAN, to design for its exhibition space, in the hope of driving traffic with the introduction of the Italian brand GIORIO CASA. The underlying concept behind the Any Day family of tables and coffee/side tables dwells in the concept of subtraction. The designer intentionally stripped the design of non-essentials, to then focus on “the details, the precise proportions and masterful execution, inherent features that inescapably define the quality of that object”.The basic idea was to set a piece of wood on a simple metal structure. Wasatch Live-Work
The Wasatch Live Work project is located on a gently sloping hillside in a residential neighborhood southeast of downtown Salt Lake City. The project was designed for a family of four who had lived on the property for over twenty years and wanted to reinvest in the fabric of their neighborhood to remain indefinitely. The clients called for an energy efficient home, a place for the family to connect, converse, and refresh; in addition, they wanted a separate work-from-home space. The client’s metal/wood working business required space where sparks from his metal work wouldn’t endanger his woodwork, and a space flooded with natural light for photographing his work.

ARMEAN HOUSE
A part of a well designed new residential development in Cluj‘s suburbs, this house comes from the start with a good functional layout. Due to this, the interior design adjusted well to the space of the house, improving it’s usability. The requirements of the owners were the functionality of a simple way of life, a budget investment and a modern approach that would create a cosy home. To combine these aspects in the design we used the warmth of wood in a balanced combination with the walls and ceilings’ luminous white and the grays of linoleum and the decorative tiles. These principles were developed in all the spaces of the house, of which the living room is yet to be completed. More
