1REBEL New ‘RIG’ Workout Concept
Inspired by Tokyo Streets for a Post-Pandemic Era
Hammersmith, London
Based in Hammersmith, APA have closely worked with 1REBEL on their first collaborative design project. The space is entitled ‘RIG’. Previously 1REBEL spaces have explored a ‘night club’ feel but the need for a pivot came with the pandemic. Born out of trying to create a greater sense of team and community within the work out, the design of the new studio reflects this with its open plan structure. This new breed of 1Rebel spaces is planned in neighborhood locations, so this new club is local, close to residential streets.

Brixton Capital
This stand-alone, 2-story building with basement was originally designed as a movie theater and converted to office space in 1950. Brixton Capitol acquired the building with the intent to modernize it for their own Corporate Headquarters and to share with tenants. The design was based on an open concept, maximizing the coastal views of Fletcher Cove and bringing those elements into the interior of the space. The renovation features a new monument stair which took into account the circular theme inherent in the existing architecture. More

Kalorias Crossbox
The main goal in this project was to transform an existing car service unit into a Crossbox, using quite limit resources. For that we tried to understand the space qualities and took advantage of them in benefit of the CrossFit training. Along side, a graphic image was developed for the brand in order to emphasize also the underground spirit of the space and to motivate the athletes.
In terms of program, the existing dressing rooms were refurbished, and new cabinets were created in the back end of the Crossbox space.
Our designed strategy was simple, take advantage of the existing architectural elements, such as the ramp, the existing stair case, the double high ceiling, the walls and pavement, and reshape them through the use of col... More
