Mark Sopp has been practicing international architecture for over 20 years and has a
wealth of knowledge and experience in all facets of planning and design. His special-
ties include large-scale resort residential communities, mixed-use and master
planned developments. With a demonstrated strength in conceptual site design, he has
the unique ability to create and sustain a strong project vision from conceptual
design through to construction while maintaining positive client relationships. As a
Vice President and Principal of SB Architects, he provides senior leadership and
design talent on a variety of hospitality and mixed-use residential projects, as well as play-
ing an active role in the business development to help determine the company's long-
term mission, direction and goals.

Prior to his tenure with SB Architects, Mark was an Associate Principal with Callison
Architects for twelve years. As the Director of the retail and mixed-use studio, he was
the lead designer for the Ala Moana Center expansion and the revitalization of the Royal
Hawaiian Center, which won the 2008 Honolulu AIA Merit Award. Shanghai's
mixed-use Grand Gateway development and the Ayala Center Greenbelt in Manila - win-
ner of the 2003 ULI award of Excellence were both completed under Mark's design
direction. Mark began his career with Whisler + Patri Architects, opening their sat-
ellite office in Tokyo in 1991. Two of his projects in Japan - the Hibari Gaoka Public
Plaza and the Culture Plaza - were national and invitational competition winners.
