Creating sophisticated projects requires teamwork within firms that have created a setting in which design excellence can thrive. The assembled expertise and focus firms can thereby be considered designs in itself. At the Archello Awards architecture firms are awarded at relevant scales – small, medium and large – while interior design firms have their own, dedicated award.

There is an array of product awards, including: ‘Facade Cladding of the Year’, ‘Window Frame of the Year’, ‘Floor of the Year’, and ‘Lighting of the Year’.
An overview of all product award categories
Architecture projects, architecture and interior design firms, and building products can be entered into the Archello Awards until 27 September 2024. From the chosen nominees, the public can also select their winner.
What the jury will consider
In their jury process the judges will consider the following criteria:
Craftsmanship – to what extent has the concept, which forms the basis of the design, been developed and materialized consistently and at all scales?
Innovation – to what extent does the project contribute to the development of the field? This can, for example, be about (a new) building typology, the role of the designer or architect, the way that an existing structure has been treated, or the application of new technologies.
Societal relevance – to what extent does the project offer an answer to current societal issues and how does this translate into the concept of the building?
Sustainability – to what extent has the carbon footprint of the project been reduced, has the energy consumption of the building been reduced, have biobased or recycled materials been applied, and/or has an existing structure been incorporated into the building – reducing the need for new materials?
Proven design excellence – do the realized projects show consistent architectural quality?
Scope of work – is the firm specialized in certain kinds of projects or does it work at a broad spectrum of projects? Either way, does the scope of work help the firm to excel in their designs?
Innovation – does the firm in their projects innovate in terms of the detailing of the projects, the typology of the buildings, the spatial organisation and spatial quality of the projects, the role the firm is taking in the design process, social responsibility, and so on?
Sustainability – to what extent is the firm focussed on limiting the carbon footprint of its projects, lowering the energy consumption of the buildings it’s designing, applying biobased or recycled materials, and/or reusing existing structures – reducing the need for new materials?
Design – to what extent has the concept, which forms the basis of the design, been developed and materialized consistently, and in great detail? How do form and function relate to each other?
Innovation – to what extent does the product provide added value over existing products? Does it, for example, feature a new form factor, have new technical properties or does it open up new applications?
Sustainability – to what extent has the carbon footprint of the product been reduced, has the energy consumption of its production been reduced, have biobased or recycled materials been applied and/or is there a plan to take the product back at the end of its lifecycle to be recycled?
