Cutler Anderson Architects
Established in 1977, Cutler Anderson Architects’ approach to design can be stated simply as an attempt to reveal the nature of every circumstance – the nature of the place in which it is located, the nature of the materials with which we build, and the nature of the institution to be housed.
Integral to all of our work for the last 42 years, has been a deep love of this living world. The current buzzword for what we have always done is Sustainability. We have, of course, kept up with all of the new methods of conserving energy and resources while still imparting a sense of the living world on a deeply emotional level to all who experience our work.
Our projects span across three continents and include custom cabins, residences, libraries, resorts, churches and government ventures such as the modernization of the Edith Green Wendell Wyatt Federal Building in Portland, Oregon; a LEED Platinum high-rise.
Cutler Anderson Architects has received six National Honor Awards from the American Institute of Architects and over 50 other national and regional awards. The firm has been featured in numerous articles published in the New York Times, Architectural Record, Elle Décor Italy, Hauser, Dwell Magazine and Seattle Magazine. Four books published by Rockport Publishers, Rizzoli, and Oscar Riera Ojeda focus solely on Cutler Anderson Architects’ seminal projects.
