Drake Hotel Properties has established itself as not just an arts-infatuated hospitality brand, but as a local cultural community centre; more than a place to eat, drink and sleep and shop, each unique property is filled with personality and buzzing with energy. We’re truly honoured to be able to provide one of Canada’s most unique and sought after hotel and culinary, arts and retail experiences.
Our properties include The Drake Hotel, Drake One Fifty, Drake Devonshire Inn and Drake General Store and each reflects their unique neighbourhoods by extending Drake’s much celebrated cultural and hospitality mandate. Curious about how it all started?
The Drake Hotel opened its doors on Valentine’s Day 2004 after extensive renovations to our original turn of the century building. From the outset we sought to connect travelers, revelers, neighbours and culture creatures and we think the hard work has paid off. The Drake has come to be known as an energetic hub for visual and performance art as well as dining and hospitality. From live music in the Underground, to award winning cocktails on our climate defiant, year round Sky Yard roof-top patio; from ongoing art exhibits and yummy eats, there's always something happening at our West Queen West outpost.
Since its creation in 2008, Drake General Store has played with the notion of taking the traditional hotel gift shop and re-imagining it in a contemporary and varied urban context. By capturing inspiration from the classic general store, the museum shop and the flea market stand, Drake General Store has created a unique destinations for classic and modern goods and goodies. Each store is filled with a sense of whimsy and nostalgia, which caters to the sensible and the not so sensible; travelers and neighbours alike.
Opened in October 2013, our first-ever stand-alone restaurant, Drake One Fifty, moves our brand eastward to Toronto’s bustling Financial District and extends our mandate for all things Drake. Meet Drake One Fifty; a chip off the old block, or simply put, Drake without beds: Food. Drink. Art.
Staying true to all things Drake, we’re excited about extending our cultural and hospitality mandate next to another outpost, Drake Devonshire Inn, now open in Wellington, Ontario. The art, food and wine happenings that currently exist in Prince Edward County, as well as our beautiful historic Inn that literally hovers over Lake Ontario made the choice to join another incredible community an easy one. With significant refurbishment and expansion alongside seasonal menus, cultural programs, inspiring excursions and a thoughtfully curated permanent art collection, Drake Devonshire will truly be a Drake outpost, Inn the County!
Whether you visit us in the city, the County or online, Drake hospitality, culture and community are of paramount importance to us. Mix that with one of our classic Drake cocktails, and we're pretty sure you'll soon see why we're a hotbed for culture.
