Born in the heart of post-industrialised Germany, I grew up in a fast changing environment of former coal mining and steel production. My education had a strong focus on visual and performing art, which lead me to develop a deep sense of curiosity for my surroundings.
A history of family migration to Australia further stimulated my ongoing interest for change and our connection to place and memory, questioning the real and imaginary.
Understanding the built environment as a natural instrument for social and cultural investigation and an instigator for change, my work explores everyday environments, landscapes and circumstances transformed by human intervention, often concerned with questions of place and identity, memory and belonging.
