Rosmaninho+Azevedo Arquitectos
Rosmaninho + Azevedo is the name of the studio formed in Porto in 2015 by Susana Rosmaninho and Pedro Azevedo.
From the beginning they’re dedicated to the most diverse scales, programs and sites, showing great resilience with tight budgets and deadlines.
They move in the permanent search for a synthesis, in an optimistic and pragmatic process that focuses on the essential and that often finds in the constraints an unblocking.
They seek that all project challenges are opportunities to solve problems and make architecture happen.
Their intention is to foster the practice of architecture with additional multi-disciplinary improvements such as museology. All projects interest them, public and private, from houses to museums, from exhibitions and small ephemeral buildings to urbanism.
The common factor linking the projects and works is that they are faithful to clear formal concepts, which are complemented by easily comprehensible building strategies.
We highlight the Tua Valley Interpretive Centre and the Project for the Requalification and Musealization of Casa do Passal – Aristides de Sousa Mendes (1st Prize, 2017).
In addition to the distinctions in public competitions, our work has been published nationally and internationally.
In 2018 the Tua Valley Interpretive Centre won the Jury’s Special Award in the Archizinc Trophy – VMZinc (Paris); it was also nominated for the EU Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Award 2019, was a finalist in the Bauwelt Award 2019: First Works and a finalist in The Plan Award 2019. For its set of projects and works this practice was a finalist in the Architectural Review Emerging Architecture Awards (AREA) 2018.
