SO/AP Studio
Founded in November 2012, SO/AP is an architectural practice built on the collaboration of Quentin Duvillier and Adrien Piebourg, later joined by Claire Morival in 2023. All three partners are graduates of the École Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture de Versailles (ENSAV).
Our Approach
Each partner brings experience across public and private commissions, having contributed to the design and delivery of diverse programs from housing and cultural facilities to fashion retail and rehabilitation projects. As varied as these programs are, they share a common set of questions: the relationship to site, functionality, circulation, spatial quality, the play of light and shadow, and sustainable development.
For SO/AP, architecture is the culmination of much broader inquiries. What does it mean to live in the twenty-first century, in an increasingly mobile society? How can ecology become a genuine design tool? Is architecture still an art? We approach these questions seriously, which is why, alongside our practice, we engage in research and prospective thinking.
SO/AP is committed to a responsible architecture, one that preserves and enhances both built heritage and future patrimony. We study the potential of urban fabric, old and new materials, solids and voids, always within a contemporary and social dimension. In everything we do, we champion environmentally conscious approaches and the use of local resources and industries.
Guided by the idea of the palimpsest city as a place of constant layering and transformation, we practice architecture through careful observation and analysis, navigating the space between ambition and humility, and always working collaboratively with skilled, engaged teams.
