A man of vision, George Knowles Snr., saw the growing popularity of what ‘out-of-town’ retail developments were offering in America. This was back in 1974 and he converted a disused mill in Tillicoultry into the largest and most diverse furniture showroom in Scotland. The mill’s size has allowed Sterling to indulge our passion for furniture, bringing you the best from wherever we find it. We’ve been travelling the globe for 35 years, building relationships and guaranteeing that we consistently deliver an outstanding range of furniture for all our customers. As we’ve grown we’ve become more than just a furniture showroom in the country. We’ve now got everything you need for your house, home and even garden. From home interiors and linens, to cookware, bathroom and lighting, our extensive range of homewares is difficult to rival. At Sterling, it’s easier and more affordable than you think to give your home a fresh new look. You can also now re-energise with a quick coffee in the café or relaxing meal in the Butterfly Inn restaurant. A day out for all the family. As well as our flagship Tillicoultry store we've also opened eight branches across the country to make our furniture and homewares more easily accessible. As much as we’d love to offer the same range in each of them as we do in Tillicoultry, size unfortunately means we cannot.
