Strand Design(2)

Strand Design is a residential design and interiors studio based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The studio designs custom homes, lake retreats and cabins, mostly across Minnesota and Wisconsin, with work as far as the Oregon coast and the Texas Hill Country. Each house starts from its site: the slope of the land, the path of the sun, the view to the water or the trees. From there the studio shapes simple, grounded forms in honest materials such as cedar, board-formed concrete, brick, steel and white oak, and carries them from the exterior to the interior so the house reads as one piece. Strand Design often leads interiors and millwork as well, and works closely with builders, landscape designers and craftspeople from the first sketch to move-in. The result is a body of work that is modern but warm, quiet on its site, and made for the way each family gathers, rests and spends time outdoors through all four seasons. The studio is at 1320 Northeast 2nd Street in Minneapolis.
