Studio Durham Architects
FIRM OVERVIEW & PHILOSOPHY Studio|Durham Architects is a full service architectural firm dedicated to working with clients in a highly interactive process. This allows us to fulfill program and budget priorities while maintaining a commitment to award-winning design.
Our primary goal is to conceive projects that are sensitive to their environment and context, embody a consistent attitude towards creating an architecture of lightness and clarity, and to utilize materials and technology in an innovative manner while maintaining a focus on environmentally-responsible building. In addition to architectural design, Studio|Durham provides a wide range of design services that includes interior design; urban design; planning and landscape architecture; and custom furniture and objects.
A founding principle of our practice has been to work with non-profit and community organizations. These groups have included: The Gateway Foundation [Citygarden]; The Pulitzer Foundation for the Arts; Habitat for Humanity St. Louis; Corner Science Stores, Inc., [a private science and math education facility prototype in Wellston, Missouri]; Bethany Place, [an AIDS social services organization and transitional housing facility in Belleville, Illinois]; as well as housing and commercial projects for various local church groups. These partnerships have allowed us to express our commitment to urban life, and implement plans with a greater social context.
