Established in 1993 as Puran Kumar Architects and Designs that later became PKA, the design studio is a well established practice providing complete design solutions in interior-architecture. Over the years, the principal architect Puran Kumar has attracted like-minded creative people to the firm and this has resulted in a design team that shares his design beliefs and has become an integral part of PKA. The studio is based on strong beliefs that are not only woven into the design process but integral to everyone working with PKA. Integrity, honesty, commitment, dedication and sincerity are not just the foundation stones of the practice but also the scaffolding that enables the studio to maintain its work ethics and design standards.
A believer of the fact that to create a space for anyone, the designer needs to understand the occupant(s) first, Puran Kumar invests a lot of time and effort in observing and learning about his clients through constant interaction. This is a mantra followed by the design team as well and has, hence, has helped the team in developing an intuitive perception of what the client expects out of his space.
Having begun and continued with corporate interiors for the initial years, the studio slowly expanded its horizons to designing other spaces as well and has now a wide spectrum of projects from corporate to residential including bungalows and villas.
Puran Kumar accredits the success of the studio to the single-minded determination of the team to “come to work every morning, commission as many things as you can and look forward to the next one”. This focused approach towards design and delivery has gained the studio the trust of almost all its clients who have since then continued their association with PKA and the team even after the projects have been completed. Today PKA has an enviable list of clients who continue to patronize the studio with some associations going back to more than 20 years.
In the past 24 years of its existence, PKA has moved from humble beginnings to becoming one of the preferred practices in the industry. Effective space planning, clutter-free designs and precision in time management are the prominent features of each project and have become the hallmark of the studio.
