Founded in 2021, Xie Jie Architects (x.j.a) is an emerging contemporary practice based in Shanghai and Sydney. The firm is dedicated to exploring the unique potential of each project, transforming ideas into reality through meticulous research and design. x.j.a’s work spans interior renovations, architectural design, and urban renewal, all aimed at revitalizing existing environments for both people and nature. Through their designs, x.j.a creates fresh realities that enrich the world. The firm has garnered recognition as an award-winning practice, being named one of the "Emerging Chinese Architects of the Year" by Archi Position in 2023, and their Hong Museum project was longlisted for the Archello 2023 Cultural Project awards.
Xie Jie, born in Shanghai in 1988, studied architecture at Tongji University, where he developed a deep attachment to the city. He later pursued further studies at Harvard University's Graduate School of Design (GSD). Following graduation, he worked with Adjaye Associates in New York and Chenchow Little Architects in Sydney. He has designed and developed a range of cultural, residential, and public building projects across the Asia-Pacific and North America. In addition to his global practice, he serves as a design critic and guest lecturer at Harvard University, Syracuse University, the University of New South Wales, and Tongji University.
