FLORIS SCHOONDERBEEK

The world is changing, and therefor our needs are changing. As a designer, entrepreneur and concept developer Floris Schoonderbeek wants to answer these new needs. Practical solutions for a creative life and a better world. The starting points for the solutions are experience, functionality and durability. His goal is to bring a change in the world – if he hadn’t become a designer he would have liked to be a mayor. He studied Product Design at the ArtEZ Institute of the Arts in Arnhem. In 2003 he studied at the Design Academy Eindhoven, but soon decided to set up his own studio. From his studio Floris develops concepts, products and (art) projects. He has not so much a specific design style but more a mindset with which he approaches projects: he writes a ‘scenario’ for an activity or location, and then designs a solution to the scenario. For as product designer not to be dependent on the structures of existing product labels – where new types of products often find no place – he founded Weltevree. Weltevree is a label that makes a sustainable and self-sufficient lifestyle possible, and more enjoyable. And also actively seeks out new ways to make products available to consumers. Such as sharing products, experience products during events or develop places like a restaurant. Weltevree consists of a professional team – with an extensive product development department and Floris as art director. Via Weltevree, Floris works with several designers. Floris is also creative director for investing developer and space curator Schipper Bosch – he develops concepts for the surroundings, design and experience of the places that Schipper Bosch manages. Schipper Bosch is a family business – founded by Michel Schoonderbeek and managed by CEO Bart Schoonderbeek – and focuses on spaces, buildings, greenery and users.
