A highlight of the collection, especially for architects and Bauhaus fans everywhere, is the new Uni Walton. Fitting for linoleum’s 150th birthday, Armstrong has developed six new colours for this monochrome structure: two warm grey tones, a camel brown, a beige, a refined racing green and a dark coffee brown, called “Spanish brown”. These reflect the look of linoleum 150 years ago, which Armstrong has now reintroduced for the 2013 jubilee. The Le Corbusier-based colours are updated classics from the old DLW repertoire, in time for the Bauhaus year and the 150th anniversary of Henry Van de Velde’s birth. With its minimal design, Uni Walton results in a surface that is peaceful and calming. The darker colours in particular have a classical elegance well-suited to purist interior design.
